Federer flew south and landed in Oz. Summer must be here.
So must be the summer of tennis.
What a high note to start a new year. (And what a reprieve after 12 months of gruesome US politics. What got into my head when I decided to follow THAT farcical presidential election 😣😣)
I have long passed watching Federer for tennis. I now watch him living tennis. His genuine love for the game and what he does to stay in the game are fascinating. I like to watch, read about and observe how he goes about on the tour. It gives me a sense of experiencing his professional as well as personal journey. There is his constant exploration of techniques and technology just so he can further another ounce of advantage. There is his re-designing rackets and try new shot making. And his advancing leg work efficiency, his training to sustain fitness , all for the sake of breaking human limitation. His inclination to test athletic and physical boundaries is a gift to the sport and millions of fans like me.
It’s time for the press to stop grilling him about retirement, really. The man is enjoying the love of his life!
Sad that he is not winning grand slam? That’s his fans’ problem, not his! If you think of him as someone whose job is clubbing a green little flurry ball, you’d see a man who does his job well and is content at his post. Throw in a world-class support team like his and a fabulous travel-happy family like the Federers, he should be the last man on this planet to be pested about quitting.
“The sun never sets” for Federer, “He likes doing this; that’s the point”.
Jump on the Fed train😍😍. Don’t expect dizzying heights. Enjoy plenty of intrigues.
